"Ethan Frome" is a novel by Edith Wharton that was first published in 1911. The story tells us about the life of Ethan Frome, at least his life before and after his "accident" 24 years prior to when the story is told.

Man vs. Man arises between Zeena and Ethan as the two know about the feelings between Ethan and Mattie, but the two struggle more on the ground of Mattie´s inappropriateness as a housekeeper and helper for Zeena, and Zena´s belief in the lack of necessity for Mattie.
