Can someone read this over and tell me the things i need to fix so i can get an a?

langston hughes poetry
the theme that i see in every poem i read from langston hughes is the struggles of an african american. in the poem on “the road”, it is about an african american man named sargeant, seeking for food and shelter, but many people denied to because of him being a person of color. when sargeant was trying to get in the church, the officers clubbed him. he went into a state of dreaming and has a surreal meeting with christ. when he was in jail, he told the officers that he would break down the door. hughes is trying to explain through the character sargeant, that whenever someone tries to break down the barrier of segregation, they get stopped and punished for it. hughes also shows that no matter how many times you get beat down, you get right back up again.
another poem by hughes, “harlem”, is about african-americans not being able to dream or be able to yearn for their ambition. the environment they lived in prevented them from having those dreams and reaching for them. in addition, the poem “mother to son”, is about advice an african american mother gives to her son about how hard life is to be a person of color at the time. she tells her son no matter how hard life gets, you still keep trying your best to fight through it. the last poem, “the weary blues,” is about an african american piano player. he sings about how miserable is life is, but puts his worries aside. he also sings about how he wishes he were dead. in hughes poems, he has a common theme that expresses the struggles of an african american in the time of the harlem renaissance.
the harlem renaissance was a time when many african-americans were migrating to find a place where they can be able to freely express their talents. in hughes poems, i noticed there are common themes in the poems. one of the themes was the struggle of being an african-american at the time.
i think hughes is a social protest writer because in his poems, he talks about the racial issues that happened at the time. he discusses the issues in his poems while addressing it at the same time.
