Which is an important element of gothic fiction?

It often has, 
A gloomy, or dark setting (haunted house, church, dark forest, castle, etc.)
Supernatural being or monsters (zombie, vampire, ghost, etc.)
Curses, witchcraft, or prophecies
A damsel in distress and/or a hero character
Can contain romance
and contains very intense emotions (Love, fear, hatred, etc.)
