Instructions: Write a paragraph (5-7 complete sentences) explaining what text structure is.

Text structure refers to how the information within a written text is organized. This strategy helps understand that a text might present a main idea and details; a cause and then its effects; and/or different views of a topic. It is also the manner in which written content is arranged is known as text structure. Common text structures include compare and contrast, sequence, description, problem and solution, and cause and effect.

Part II

Instructions: Write two paragraphs (5-7 complete sentences) that compare how the structures of “Gumption” and “To Build a Fire” create meaning.

“Gumption” and “To Build a Fire” create meanings. Both tells the struggles they both went through. In "gumption" Oyster and his boy are dealing with racial injustice.  In "to build a fire" he is challenged with surviving in the wilderness in the middle of winter. So the meaning creates that life can be challenging.

the speech this question is referring to is president kennedy's special message to the congress on urgent national needs, may 25, 1961

kennedy responds in a very direct and concrete way to those thinking that communism is a positive system:

"yet their aggression is more often concealed than open. they have fired no missiles; and their troops are seldom seen. they send arms, agitators, aid, technicians and propaganda to every troubled area. but where fighting is required, it is usually done by others--by guerrillas striking at night, by assassins striking alone--assassins who have taken the lives of four thousand civil officers in the last twelve months in vietnam alone--by subversives and saboteurs and insurrectionists, who in some cases control whole areas inside of independent nations." (kennedy)

president kennedy presents communism as cowardly, as a hidden and treacherous weapon that strikes from the shadows like thieves, he represents the system as not even being capable of showing and open and overt attack or confrontation. to finish up the response, he expresses that the system attacks even a country's idependence and freedom.

the correct answer is option d. none of these. it is noted that options a, b, and c share the same content.

despite the valid answer provided at the last sentence of each of the options, a question/answer format shouldn't include humourous themed responses such as "you bet your thermal pj's we do." - unless of course, the answer is carried out in an informal environment. this could be replaced with a simple "yes" or "it is necessary".

the question should be re-phrased to a more appropiate syntaxis. instead of "do we need the greenhouse effect? ", it should be written as "is the greenhouse effect necessary? " in order to give it a general scope, instead of limiting the answer to the needs of "we" the humans.
