When the dwarves were attacked by the spiders, Bilbo slipped on his magical ring on his finger and became invisible. He was distracting the spiders away from the dwarves by throwing rocks and killing some of them. He also was singing a song which had a few insulting words such as “old fat spider”,” Attercop”, and more to get them curious, excited, and angry all at once. The spiders were very angry, and they started to chase him. While the spider was still distracting, Bilbo went to save his companions. He also used the ring to escape Gollum and distract the goblins to escape their cave.
