Write out all the nouns/noun phrases in the passage below and indicate against each its function. It is Thursday morning, and Sandra Adams is typing her sixth email to Maxwell, a marketing executive from London. As she hits the send button, her heart starts to race; she is a 34-year- year-old solicitor, and has logged on to an online dating agency and is still engrossed in it when she realises she is 10 minutes late for an important client meeting. She grabs her papers and is about to leave when her computer made a little ping noise, and the envelope icon starts flashing. Maxwell has replied. Sandra’s heart is now galloping. She knows what she should do – ignore the message. Instead, she reaches for the mouse.
