Excerpt from Does My Head Look Big in This?:
Iām terrified. But at the same time I feel like my passion and conviction in Islam are bursting inside me and I want to prove to myself that Iām strong enough to wear a badge of my faith. I believe it will make me feel so close to God. Because itās pretty hard to walk around with people staring at your "towel-headā and not feel kind of pleased with yourself if you manage to get through the stares and comments with your head held high. Thatās when this warm feeling buzzes through you and you smile to yourself, knowing Godās watching you, knowing that He knows youāre trying to be strong and please Him.
Excerpt from Persepolis:
5 panels from the graphic novel Persepolis. Marjane deep down thinks she is very religious. She was born into religion, and when she was 6, she thought she was the last prophet. The last two panels show her as the last prophet meeting the previous prophets. The other prophets looked surprised that she is a woman.
