Can someone i really need !
in this discussion, you'll reflect on the module reading and analyze key moments from the text alongside your classmates. your goal in this discussion is to practice identifying main ideas in a text and making inferences supported by textual evidence.
let's examine karen's discussion post.
i noticed that, in khianna’s response, she believes that douglass’s “hope” was the possibility of a better life. khianna points out that, not having the ties to home that a normal child would, douglass is excited to see whether he can find a better world in baltimore. like khianna, i also picked up on the sadness that is a part of douglass’s “hope.” even though he is excited to move to baltimore, he tells himself that, no matter what, it won’t be any worse than what he already has.
post your responses to the following questions. make sure you support your ideas with textual evidence.
as douglass reflects on his life, what does he think is the significance of the move to baltimore?
what is his hope, and why does he have the hope?

From 1984 by george orwell: discuss the significance and nature of winston's dreams. deconstruct the dream wherein o'brien claims that they "shall meet in a place where there is no darkness" ( 22), and the dream in which winston's mother and sister disappear (26). what are the underpinnings of these dreams? what deeper meanings do they hold? why might the author devote as much time as he does to winston's dreams?

Read the excerpt below and answer the question. she was a small woman, short and straight-waisted like a child in her brown cotton gown. her forehead was mild and benevolent between the smooth curves of gray hair; there were meek downward lines about her nose and mouth; but her eyes, fixed upon the old man, looked as if the meekness had been the result of her own will, never of the will of another. in at least one hundred words, explain how this excerpt uses explicit and implicit details to describe sarah penn.
