Write an essay based on your outline from Lesson 2. Your essay will be about the same topic: a famous hoax from history. Like the outline, it must include a thesis, main ideas, and evidence from credible sources. In this lesson, however, you will organize your content into paragraphs and add quotes and paraphrases from your sources. When you're done, your essay should be about 900 words, or roughly three double-spaced pages. Your assignment should include the following elements:
A thesis that makes a direct statement about the historical hoax you've chosen to explore
Main ideas that support your thesis
Evidence from at least three credible sources, including one source representing a different medium from the others
An introduction and a conclusion paragraph and several body paragraphs
Quotes and paraphrases from your sources that are cited correctly
A works-cited page that lists all your sources
You should have completed a draft of this assignment in the activity before this one. If you haven't done so, go back and complete that activity now.

Ask yourself these questions as you revise:
Does my thesis say something definite about my topic that needs to be backed up with evidence? Is my thesis supported by main ideas (or reasons or main points)?
Does my evidence come from sources that are credible and relevant to my thesis?
Does my introduction paragraph grab the reader's attention, introduce the thesis, and give some background information about the hoax?
Do my body paragraphs present evidence and main ideas? Does each paragraph focus on a separate topic or main idea?
Does my conclusion remind readers what my essay is about? Does it leave readers with something to think about?
Did I quote and paraphrase where appropriate? Do I cite my quoted and paraphrased sources correctly? Is it obvious which source on my works-cited page each citation refers to?
Does my works-cited page follow MLA guidelines? Does it list all my sources?
