Here is an outline for an argumentative essay I'm assuming five paragraphs
for body paragraphs, write using the S. E.X. Y. format.
S- statement (your reason) E- evidence (supports your statement) X- eXplain (explain the evidence... it means this...) Y- Your response (add some of your voice to explaining this point, your response to the statement and evidence).
Explanation:
Intro:
1. open with the problem at hand
A. wild animals are going extinct, zoos can help, is it worth the price? (just an exapmle)
2. Thesis statement (your stance on the topic- aka your opinion)
3. reason 1,
A. this is why [your stance] is correct
4. reason 2
A. same thing
(listing your three reasons supporting your claim)
5. reason 3 (this one comes with a counterclaim and rebuttal)
A. people may think/say this... (short reason supporting the opposite of your claim)
B. but this says otherwise... (short reason defending your claim from the counter)
6. Transition statement
Body Paragraphs:
S. E.X. Y. (feel free to add as much evidence, citing sources, in body paragraphs as you'd like)
1. Reason 1 (body paragraph 2, use Reason 2-- and so on for #3)
2. Evidence to support (from texts)
3. Explain the evidence
4. Your response to the statement and evidence.
Conclusion:
1. Restate prompt
2. Give the 3 reasons
3. Restate your Thesis (opinion/stance on the topic)
4. Close it out
