HOW DO I MAKE THIS BETTER

In "America" by Richard Blanco, the speaker's point of view about his life as a Cuban-American is unhappy because he didn't grow up having 2 story houses and stuff Americans have. A quote in the text to prove my answer is "Overheard conversations about returning had grown wistful and less frequent." (Paragraph 3) The quote means he wasn't happy. Another quote is "We didn’t live in a two-story house with a maid or a wood-panel station wagon nor vacation camping in Colorado." (Paragraph 3) He thought it wasn't normal to not have stuff the Americans have.
