Sidra stood in the hot spotlight on the stage as the audience screamed passionately. The band started playing a hit song, and Sidra lifted the microphone to her lips, belted out perfect notes, and stomped her feet to the rhythm. The pop star’s stage presence was something to admire. Sidra commanded the stage with every swish of her hips, every tap of her foot, every tilt of her head, and every exhale of her breath. Sidra’s talent for choreography, dancing, and singing combined with her beauty, energy, and charm made her a worldwide sensation. Across the packed stadium, every eye focused on Sidra. As the diva performed, people lifted their cellphones as beacons of appreciation. The star drank in the fans’ energy. The bright lights, the loud music, the flashy stage set, and the fans’ adoration intoxicated Sidra. She sang every song with fresh conviction and danced until she was soaked with sweat. Sidra felt powerful.
When the concert ended, Sidra went to her spacious, luxurious dressing room. Several large bouquets of fresh flowers in crystal vases graced the white marble countertops. Black leather arm chairs and sofas were arranged neatly around a plush white area rug. A water feature of backlit blue glass was attached to one of the walls. Sidra was exhausted from giving the best performance of her life. She sank onto one of the sofas, closed her eyes, and listened to the calming trickle of the water feature. Without the cheering audience, Sidra felt anonymous and insignificant. She didn’t think that she deserved the fancy dressing room or her wealth. Offstage, she lacked confidence.
