We previously discussed that Atticus says that you never really understand a person “until you climb into his skin and walk around in it”. The story ends with Scout saying, “You never really understand someone until you have walked in their shoes.” After witnessing all the events of the story, please explain what this means. What events in the story helped Scout to finally understand this concept. Please cite textual evidence. What message do you think Harper Lee is trying to send to the reader? Please take the historical context of the book’s release in mind. (3-4 paragraphs)
