About 3-months ago, something very catastrophic happened. I thought it was the worst thing that could have happened in the world for any 14-year-old kid. Well, I was wrong. First, let me tell you about what happened a month ago. Also totally forgot to tell you, I am Alexander Jackson (You can call me AJ, Alex, Alexander, or James, it doesn’t matter).
The story started like this. On the 15th of August, my parents and my cute little sister Annabeth were in the car, driving to my school to pick me up for tennis. In the way, a truck came on the wrong side of the road. Straight at the car. Just 15-20 minutes later, I heard about this. I ran to where the car was smoking, and a small fire had started. My parents were breathing their last. Their last words, “A. J I love you - mijo take care of Annabeth” and then --. Annabeth was crying in the back, her skin all black but didn’t have any major damage. I took her out and promised myself what mother had just said.
The only good thing was that we got to live with my aunt. She is basically like my second mother. Aunt White looks like my mother cause she’s her older sister. Since Annabeth didn’t know this she probably thought that Aunt White was her mom even though she wasn’t. After a while, when things were just starting to get a little bit better, it got worse.
On the night of December 31, the alarms started ringing. It was the fire trucks. My Aunt told me to " Help nail all of the windows from the outside". I asked her what was going on the only thing she needed to say was " Hurricane ". I had forgotten that hurricanes are common in Houston. I helped her and started taking sleeping bags to the closet. That night was mostly a blur. In the morning, when we were sure there were no signs of more disasters, we left the house to see the damage. A couple of streets down, we saw that the hurricane had passed exactly through there. The damage had a 1 mile radius and harmed all the way to our neighbor's house just on the right. We were lucky because nothing happened to us.
This was the brutal year of Alexander Jackson.
