I will give bainlest if correct Read these sentences from the story The Mystery of the Missing Library Books:

Next, Sandra and I met with Wilma, the librarian, for questioning. After meeting with and listening to Victor's story, I was interested to hear Wilma's answers about the missing books.

"I am partially blind," Wilma explained. "I can only read books with large print or in Braille. I stay late on weeknights to run the Experience Reading Club. I help children with visual disabilities learn to enjoy books, whether they are large print books, audiobooks, or books written in Braille. Many of my students cannot see the call numbers on the books, so I put them away myself. Sometimes the librarian or library helper forgets about me, but that's not an issue because the doors don't lock from the inside. The only problem I had was a couple of nights ago. I heard shoes squeaking and banging noises. When the noises stopped, I ran out the door. The next morning, all of the recent releases were gone."

Sandra and I looked at each other. Sandra's fists were bowling balls. I tapped my index finger against my pursed lips, thinking that the evidence was beginning to come together. I withheld my suspicions about our client from Sandra and whispered, "I think it's time for a stakeout."

Read the following excerpt from life on the mississippi by mark twain. no girl could withstand his charms. he "cut out" every boy in the village. when his boat blew up at last, it diffused a tranquil contentment among us such as we had not known for months. but when he came home the next week, alive, renowned, and appeared in church all battered up and bandaged, a shining hero, stared at and wondered over by everybody, it seemed to us that the partiality of providence for an undeserving reptile had reached a point where it was open to criticism. how does twain's use of understatement serve his purpose? be sure to use specific details from the text to support your answer.
