I need some social/communication advice. It sounds like relationship advice but trust me, it isn’t. So my partner's friend (which I don't/didn't know who) decided to message me online acting like a random person trying to make online friends. I didn’t mind so I said greetings and they jumped into if I was in a relationship or not first thing.
Thinking it was odd, I looked to notice that the account was messaging me at the same time as my partner, every single message. So I thought it was my partner testing my loyalty. So I responded truthfully, no matter how personal it got. I later confronted my partner but they told me that it wasn’t her, it was her friend. But I was close, her friend wanted to test me. I was slightly mad that someone was being nosy about my relationship and questioning it, and my partner knew all along, I didn’t want to come off rude so I didn’t tell them that. The friend apologized and I just said one thing, I wish the things I answered was things I could’ve told my partner myself as I wasn’t comfortable sharing, let alone have someone else tell her. They said they didn’t understand what I meant and I didn’t want to go any further so we moved on. But the next message I received was, “Is the relationship going strong? How do you feel?” which was the same type of questions they asked before I blew their cover. They still wanted to test me, hoping they can find things out from me for my partner.
I want to respectfully tell them that I don’t want to talk about my relationship with them anymore but I also don’t want them to think that I’m not saying anything because I’m hiding something.
What should I do?
Should I have my partner tell them something or is there something I can tell them directly to make them stop?
