Dear Mr. Richmond
(1) Dear Mr. Richmond, (2) Yesterday my friends and I went to Town Creek Park. (3) We planned to ride our skateboards there. (4) At the entrance to the park, I noticed a new sign: No Skateboards Allowed. (5) My friends and I were upset. (6) We went home to think of another place we could skate. (7) We could not think of one place in our community that allows skateboards. (8) This is a problem for many young people in Forestville, but I think we have a solution. (9) There is an abandoned lot on Sharp Street. (10) The lot is covered with weeds and trash. (11) Imagine if the weeds and trash were removed and replaced with clean ramps, sidewalks, and railings. (12) Sharp Street would be free of pollution and provide a safe place for skateboarders to skate. (13) My friends and I have also thought about how the city might pay for the skate park. (14) The city could ask businesses to donate the materials to build the ramps. (15) Skateboarders could do chores, such as raking leaves, and donate their money to the skate park. (16) If everyone works together, we can quickly raise enough money to build the park. (17) Skateboarders in Forestville need a skate park. (18) It is not safe to ride on sidewalks in town because people also walk on the sidewalks. (19) Skateboards are not allowed in parks, and the school board voted last week not to allow skateboards on school sidewalks. (20) Skaters need a safe place to skate. (21) We think our idea for a skate park will help everyone in the community. (22) We would be happy to meet with you in person to explain our ideas. (23) Thank you for your time. (24) Sincerely, Mark
