Online classes can be harder because of physical conditions. You don't really have a teacher who can keep you on track, you don't see classmates who can help you, and you aren't in a dedicated space for learning. Because of these things, you need a lot more discipline in order to stay on task. Students may no longer have an internet connection, a device to use, or a space to learn in. Some students may not be available to meet at specific times. Others may have a lot going on in the background that they're trying to block out or even hide from the rest of the class. Many students hear about online courses and think they sound easy. After all, they involve completing a course in the comfort of one's own home and on one's own time. However, online courses are rarely easier than regular classroom courses and often require far more discipline and commitment than offline courses. Alongside the lack of social interaction, online class structure can affect teens and adolescents in a number of ways: They may feel heightened anxiety about keeping up to date with their school work. Other teens may experience difficulty concentrating or staying focused while at home.
