Write a body paragraph about the dust bowl example: During the dust bowl the crops withered and died and the people who went through it will never forget about it because it affected them in emotional and personal ways. People felt helpless because there wasn’t anything they could do to stop the dust storms. Regardless of the storms, some kept their sense of humor as a way to get through these times. In “Fields of Flashing Light”, the author says, “...the dust came, tearing up fields where the winter wheat, set for harvest in June, stood helpless. I watched the plants, surviving after so much drought and so much wind…” (lines 15-19). The dust destroyed everything they had worked for on their farms and some people gave up and left . In “Covered in Dust”, Roop stated, “Many families abandoned their farms. For those that remained, life was a challenge.” (paragraph 8) The dust bowl was draining emotionally and personally for the people who lived through it.
