PROJECT: DESIRABLE EMPLOYEE TRAITS What do employers want from the people they hire? Do you think they want a grouchy person who does as little as possible by wasting time and refusing to help others? Of course not. Employers have higher expectations of the people they hire. And how would you like to work with someone you couldn't trust to do his part of the job?

Whether it be fast food, retail, an office job, or construction, employers look for core qualities in people that will help them be good, successful workers. Here are seven traits that employers want in the people they hire:

honesty
punctuality
loyalty
cooperation
responsibility
desire to learn
ability to get along with others
OBJECTIVES
Demonstrate your understanding of the seven desirable employee traits.
Assess your ability to demonstrate the traits that employers want.
Directions
Your task is to fill out the chart below. Copy and paste the chart, or create a similar one, in a word processer document.
For each of the seven qualities listed, you will give an example of how the quality is demonstrated in the second column. (An example has already been provided for the quality of honesty.)
After you give an example, you will then describe how you personally demonstrate the quality in the third column. Try to make your personal example different from the example in the second column.
Decide how well you demonstrate each quality by ranking yourself on a scale of 1 to 10.
When you are finished filling out the chart, save your document and upload it below. Then answer the questions that follow.
