Personal Narrative Overview
For the personal narrative this semester we are going to be looking at stories and
storytelling. For this assignment you will need to pick a story from your childhood.
Ideally this story will be a fictional something that an adult told you as a child.
Within this narrative you will focus on how this story shaped you as a human being.
Did the moral of the story teach you something? Was the kairos of when you heard the
story particularly memorable or maybe a tradition? If you plan on having kids or being
a cool aunt/uncle is this something that you will pass down to the children you
interact with as an adult? During this be mindful of the argument that these aspects
of story telling have, an example being morals of stories as an argument to do or not
do something. Also consider the audience and genre choices of the stories you are
writing about, but your writing itself.
