Themes and message. the main theme of the short story “the pedestrian” by ray bradbury is that of  censorship  in a  dystopian  society, followed by the theme of the dangers of progress. a “dystopia” is a term which characterizes a community or a society which is by no means ideal, but abnormal, scary and worth fearing.
