ASSIGNMENT: Write a personal narrative detailing your efforts to incorporate a virtue, such as
those from Benjamin Franklin's autobiography, into your daily life.
PROCESS:
1. Read the excerpt from Benjamin Franklin's autobiography.
2. Examine the virtues Franklin chose to focus on in his quest for perfection.
3. Choose a virtue from Franklin's list - or choose one of your own - as a focus in
your own quest to improve yourself.
SUGGESTED FORMAT:
a. An introduction indicating the virtue you chose and explaining why you
chose it
b. Concrete details and illustrative examples of the process of implementing it
into your life
C. A conclusion that reflects on what you gained or anticipate gaining from
this experience. Note that even though Franklin did not achieve the perfec-
tion for which he strove, he said he was grateful for the experience because
he felt the attempt made him a better person.
