It was a beautiful summer day at the beach, and Alan and I were playing in the sand. I was building my first sandcastle of the day when something shiny appeared in the water. I squinted and observed a grotesque, beady-eyed creature gazing back at me. Its body, wrapped in calloused skin, crawled along the top of the water and plunged into the depths. For a moment, I was so petrified that I forgot to breathe. Read the following paragraph from The Diver.

It was a gorgeous summer day at the beach, and Alan and Sasha were spending the day in the sand. Alan and his friends were sandboarding on the sand dunes, and Sasha was building a sandcastle. Out in the ocean, a scuba diver bobbed in the water, fixing his goggles. Sasha caught sight of the scuba diver and froze in fright. The scuba diver swam forward and went underwater. Sasha sprang to her feet.

"Alan, there is something in the water! Come look!" she shrieked.
