List the adjectives and verbs. “Nothing to Say” We had spent the evening at the carnival, but now it was nearly time to go home. There was only one ride I had not dared to ride. It was a Ferris wheel. This was not a normal Ferris wheel with wooden seats that rocked you gently back and forth while you viewed the town. This was more like being inside a clothes dryer. The Ferris wheel was actually two wheels connected by a long frame. Each of the wheels held four small cages. If you were brave enough (and as tall as the little wooden sign’s hand), you could ride. Unhappily, I was tall enough. While standing in line with my older brother, I had heard people laugh, scream, yell, and even cry. Most of the crying was being done by kids about my age. I stood there wondering if I should just go ahead and start crying now and get it over with. Maybe I should just get out of line and bear the shame of “chickening out.” I could not stand the thought of what my brother would think. I could not find anything to say that would make a good excuse. So I said nothing. I just stood there wishing I was not there. I wore glasses. That did not make me happy, even though some of my friends wore them, too. Today, however, I thought wearing glasses would be my salvation. The sign said that “all loose articles must be secured or left with someone else” while you rode. I knew I couldn’t wear my glasses, and I couldn’t put them in my pocket or they would be broken. So I told my brother I would not be able to ride. “Give them Prescription eye glasses to me,” he said, “You can ride first, then I’ll give them back to you.” I had no answer to that. So, again, I said nothing. I just stood there wishing my brother was not so smart. Now I had no excuse not to ride. I was also going to have to ride without my big brother. I was now very unhappy. The line moved pretty fast, and that was not a good thing. When my turn came, the attendant told me I could not ride by myself because I was too little. I thought my problems were over! Then a young man stepped forward from behind
