They would run around the grassy field in Smyrna, Georgia while they played tag. Christopher was the older and wiser kid and dan was full of mischief. Dan’s parents passed away when he was little so Christopher's parents took him in. The parents became very poor when the boy's dad lost his job at the meat market. The boy’s dream was to see the circus. As the circus neared the boy’s excitement rose, they begged their parents to pay for tickets but their parents where broke. The parents couldn’t afford to pay for the boy's circus tickets so the boys decided to sneak into the circus act. They planned to sneak at the middle of the show and watch from under the bleachers. The circus was still weeks away and had 20 different backup plans if anything went wrong. The boys where prepared for anything at this point.

The circus was days away and the mom and dad became suspicious of the boy's excitement. The parents were onto the kids plan and followed them the day of the circus to the alleyway. The parents were confused why the boys went down the alley. They trailed the boys down to the playground then thought nothing of it, so they went back to the house. The boys knew the parents were following them, so they lost them at the playground then once they left, they made their way to the circus. The boys have found the entrance to the circus and have snuck in successfully then hid under the bleachers.

The brothers snuck in while the people were still setting up the circus. They were almost caught by one of the circus actors. The circus was beautiful and was full of stunt equipment they were full of dangerous swings and strings where the stunt people will perform their circus tricks. There was a large back room full of animals that were going to be used in the stunts and the boys were amazed. After the show the boys went past a guy who had asked for their tickets, but the boys had snuck in, so they ran from the man and dan tripped on the wire. Dan fell to the ground and the actress on the string had fallen, Christopher thought quick and broke the womans fall. Dan was taken away never to be seen again.

Chris was offered a lot of money for saving that woman and dan was sitting in juvie, Christopher accepted the money for his family and his dad was offered to work for a rich man. The family was not allowed to see dan because he was almost responsible for the injury of a woman. The family lived happy in their home in Smyrna, Georgia.
