Read the passage. A banana split is a well-known ice cream dessert! To make a banana split, you need to follow a series of steps in a specific order. To start, the dessert is served in a long dish called a boat. Second, one banana is cut in half, lengthwise, and placed into the boat. Third, three scoops of ice cream are needed. Traditionally, it is a scoop of vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. However, it can be any flavors of ice cream that one desires. After that, sauces are drizzled over the ice cream and banana. Some popular sauces are chocolate, caramel, or strawberry. Next, traditionally nuts, like peanuts, are sprinkled over the dessert. After the nuts are sprinkled, whip cream is next! The whip cream can be a thick line over all three scoops of ice cream or each ice cream scoop can get a small dab of whip cream. Last, but not least, a maraschino cherry is placed on the top of the dessert! All that is left is to grab a spoon and eat. This delicious dessert that many enjoy was founded in 1904 in Pennsylvania.
