(1) Have you ever wondered why electric eels are
called electric? (2) These eels have powerful cells in their
bodies that act like tiny batteries (3) If a predator is
attacking an eel or if the eel wants to stun its own prey, the
eel sends out an enormous electric jolt. (4) This animal can
also use a less powerful electric charge that is like radar to
detect things in the water. (5) Eels cannot see very well, so
this radar like ability helps them find prey (6) This huge jolt
is five times more powerful than an electric wall socket in
the United States!
