In Act II, Scene 2 of The Diary of Anne Frank, Anne prepares for a “date” with Peter. As Margot helps her to get ready, their dialogue reveals evidence that Anne is maturing, as does Anne’s discussion with Peter later in the scene. In your journal, describe how Anne is changing, using specific examples from the text to support your ideas. How would you feel if you were in Anne’s position as a teenager surrounded by adults, trying to navigate the challenges of growing up seemingly all by yourself? Your response should be at least 150 words in length.

Anne is becoming more mature as she ages, and she looks at the world through a fresh pair of eyes. She now understands part of the burden that her parents hold, and she acts more politely towards the other adults there. Anne, it is very clear that if there is one individual in particular Anne does not like, it is Mrs.Van Daan. As she becomes more mature, she and Mrs.Van Daan become more acquainted and they do not clash as much, Anne becomes more polite. I understand why Anne would be frustrated by her situation. She wants to be treated with respect, but at the same time, she isn't the most mature. So as the war went on, she becomes more understanding of the adults and later on matures. If I were there I don't know how I would be trying to figure out everything on my own. I would more than likely be frustrated trying to figure out my teenage years while everyone is focused on the war.

overnment is strong when they have the ability to persuade those they govern to believe government has enough power to force them or should be forcing them to do government’s will.

when enough of the citizenry do not believe government can force them or should force them to do its bidding, government has lost or will lose its strength and power to coerce.

when enough of the citizenry do believe government can force or should force them to do its bidding, they become passive at the least or actively pro-government and repeat government’s own rhetoric to pass on what they have been persuaded by government’s propaganda.

a true majority isn’t always needed to govern or to stop government. many times all that is needed is a strong minority. if a determined 30% of the population rises up against government in a concerted effort to bring it down, this size minority usually will succeed as long as those actively opposing the minority are less in force than the minority. so if 41% of the population sits at home watching tv rooting for one side or the other, they don’t matter. it’s the active parties who make a difference.

in this text, paine use the word “ye” several times in order to  capture  the  attention of the colonists who   haven't understand the   importance and urgency of his cause. the word "ye" that is the plural of   "thou" is used to call the colonists attention and make the fight for the cause.
