In this Lesson, you will practice what you have learned about expository texts by writing an expository essay. You will explain Information in a multi-paragraph essay. To write the essay, you will follow the steps of the writing process discussed in Unit 3. This Lesson will guide you through those steps.

To help focus your writing, you will be given a list of suggested topics. Choose a topic that matches your Interests and/or experiences.

List of Suggested Topics

• Think about a person who is a role model to you. What admirable qualities does he/she possess? Write an essay explaining to your classmates the person you admire and why.

• Think about an invention or Innovation in technology that has had an impact on your life. Write an essay to your teacher describing how this invention has changed your life.

• Think about the advantages and disadvantages of playing team sports, such as soccer or baseball. Write an essay to your teacher explaining the positive and negative aspects of playing team sports.

Cheating is a very common problem in schools today. Think about possible solutions to the problem of cheating. Write an essay to your principal giving your solutions to the cheating problem.

• Think about two different styles of music, such as rap and pop music. Write an essay to your classmates in which you compare and contrast two different styles of music.

. Consider how you have changed since entering middle school. Write an essay to your teacher discussing the major ways that you have changed throughout your years in middle school.

Imagine that students defacing school property is a big problem at your school. Consider solutions to this problem. Write an essay to your principal explaining your solutions to the problem of defacing school property. . In the space provided, answer the following questions:
