Joseph's Return Joseph had been away for a year. She would never admit it to anyone, but she felt such a special bond with him, her youngest child of four. She couldn't bear to imagine how he might have changed. He had spen three months at navy training, and for nine months he'd served on boats going to all kinds of places. She hoped that now, when he'd seen so much of the world, places she would never visit, he could still love her the same warm simplicity that was so dear to her.
