"Bite back your tongue," scolded my mother when I cried loudly,
yanking her hand toward the store that sold bags of salted
plums. At home, she said, "Wise guy, he not go against wind. In

North will follow. Strongest wind cannot be seen." The next week
I bit back my tongue as we entered the store with the forbidden
candies. When my mother finished her shopping, she quietly
plucked a small bag of plums from the rack and put it on the
counter with the rest of the items.
Waverly cries because it is a cold, windy day and she
is out shopping with her mother. Her mother scolds
her to stop crying. When Waverly stops crying, her
mother then gives her candy as a reward.
Waverly sees some candy at a local store and begins
O crying loudly. After scolding Waverly, her mother buys
the candy

Waverly cries when her mother won't buy her candy
Her mother tells her to stop crying. The next time
they go out shopping, Waverly stays quiet and her
mother buys her the candy
