John Putnam refuses Abigail when she says she still loves him. Do you believe him when he says their relationship is over? Why or why not?

I believe John Putnam when he refuses Abigail's profession of love.  Abigail has proved herself a manipulator of men and women.  She is able to get whatever she wants through threats and lies.

Though he once committed adultery with her, John Putnam has come to his senses about his sin, especially based on the false accusations that Abigail was throwing about against people who were not involved with her in the witch dance.
