What do Maggie’s words and appearance cause Mama to realize?

(I'm assuming this is from Everyday use) It caused mama to realise that Maggie has a view of the world and belives nothing will ever change for her, she won't win, and always is used to getting the short end of the stick.

i don't really know the circumstances. i personally think not due to it not being fair for all parties and how hated i'd become if i thought it was a good thing.
