Pen-Pal Letter
Directions:
Imagine that you are writing a letter to a pen pal in another
country. The person you are writing to is about to come to the
United States and attend Westside High School Your letter will
describe what they need to understand about our "youth culture"
in and around Westside All five areas of culture (technology,
symbols, language, values, and norms) need to be covered.

Length: Seven paragraphs (1-1 72 pages?). Paragraphs do not
have to be overly long,
Start with “Dear „" (make up a name)
1. Introduction
2. Technology (must include the items AND
“acceptable usage of each)
3. Symbols
4. Language (must have lwritten/verbal AND 1
unwritten/non-verbal)
5. Values
6. Norms (Must have 1 Folkway AND 1 More)
7. Conclusion
End with "Sincerely," (your first and last name
underneath)
