The author realized that there are many children in various parts of the world who are exposed to inhospitable situations because of poverty. These situations do not promote a good quality of life, a good education or a good security for children, besides making them lose their childhood by doing heavy and dangerous jobs, starving, most of the time. This was what motivated Kiel burger to start Free the Children.

The author is moved. That's because José and the boys from Brazil have very difficult lives, but they are always willing to share, talk and play, showing that they can find kindness even in sadness.
