In a paragraph of no less than 125 of your own words, write a retelling of the story of Saul becoming king. You can tell the story from what Samuel saw and heard or from what Saul saw and heard. You can pretend that you are Samuel. God has given you instructions to anoint the first king of Israel. The man you are to anoint will be sent to you out of the land of Benjamin. Tell what happens.

You can pretend that you are Saul. You are trying to find your father's donkeys that are lost. You go to the home of the prophet in Israel hoping he can help you find the lost donkeys. The prophet of God tells you that you will become king in Israel, chosen by God. Samuel anoints you with oil and promises signs by which you will know that what he is telling you will surely come to pass. Describe your experience. What did you feel? What were your actions? What did you do next?
