Cesar Chavez was an American labor leader and
civil rights activist who cofounded the United
Farm Workers union. He was born on March 31,
1927 in Yuma, Arizona. Cesar was one of six

and lettuce in the winter, cherries and beans in
the spring, corn and grapes in the summer, and
cotton in the fall. Cesar Chavez quit school in
the seventh grade to work in the fields full-time.
