Grandma jumps to a conclusion that the kids these days are ungrateful, disrespectful and rude. However, the real reason for girl's refusal was that if she learned how to make rolls, she would become less dependant from her grandmother, so when the old lady dies, the girl will have one memory less of her.

So, the grandmother was unaware of the complexity and the real reasons for the little girl's refusal.
