The conflict of individuality versus conformity remains constant throughout the novel. Very little conflict is seen between the conforming members of the World State, but conflict becomes evident between members who are concerned with individuality and personal emotion.
Conduct a mock trail based on John’s refusal to attend the party Bernard Marx is throwing. Clarify and state the charges brought against John by his host, Bernard. Use the other characters (Lenina, Helmholtz, the Arch Songster, the Head Mistress of Eton, and Henry Foster) as character witnesses to defend or incriminate John and Bernard.
