- An observation is something you sense. An inference is something you decide or think about a thing or event after yoi observe it.

Observation Examples:

- A scientist looking at a chemical reaction in an experiment.

- An astronomer looking at the night sky.

- A chef watching his roast in the oven as it cooks.

- A producer watching actors perform on stage.

- A baker watching his cake in the oven.

Inference examples:

-"I don’t see Anne. She said she was tired, so she must have gone home to bed.”

-“Sarah’s been at the gym a lot; she must be trying to lose weight.”

- The sandwich you left on the table is gone. Crumbs lead to your dog’s bed, and a piece of meat hangs out of her mouth. You infer she has eaten the sandwich.

- One of your coworkers has recently retired, leaving an opening. Your boss calls you into her office the next day, and you infer that you might be getting a promotion.

from the political point of view it could be said that the candidate   is an effective speaker because she takes a strong position on the issue. it is an open discussion but probably she is making a presentation and can choose which subjects she wants to address. she is very likely to attain her aim which is to convince voters to accept her proposal.
