In the beginning the knight commits a crime against a woman, which shows that in addition to being aggressive and disrespectful, he does not understand the simplest desires of women, let alone their greatest desires. This crime causes the knight to lose the understanding of women in the kingdom and the chance to regain consideration and be accepted again into society is discovering the greatest desire of women.
