At the beginning of the story, Alicia is convinced that scallops will hurt her. Why then does she claim at the end of the story that she was going to have "a good day"?

At the beginning of the story Alicia was convinced the scallops would hurt her because her was used to her brother playing tricks on her and not telling the full truth. Once Ron convinced her to come into the water and that the scallops won't bite, she reluctantly followed. Alicia found a scallop and was intrigued when it didn't bite or run away. She pulled it close to her face to examine it more. She watched as the shell opened slightly. Inside Alicia saw rows of blue dots and wondered if it was looking at her. Then just as soon as it opened its shell it clamped shut and water squirted into her face. Alicia was startled and dropped the scallop. Somewhere behind her, she could here Ron shrieking with laughter. “ “And there, dear sister, is the scallop's bite. Do be careful,” Ron said, laughing harder.” Alicia started to grin because she knew she was worried about nothing. It felt good to laugh with her brother. At the end of the story she claims she is going to have a good day because she knew they weren't going to hurt her and she was going to have fun with Ron.
