How they battered down

Doors

And ironed

Starched white

Shirts

How they led

Armies

Head ragged generals

Across mined

Fields

-trapped

Ditches

Desks

A place for us

How they knew what we

Must know

Without knowing a page

Of it

Themselves.

the two poems are very different but the same at the same time. the contrast of the poems are unique and they mean the same in a different way. the use of metaphor are home touching its like their speaking out to you in a way
