One example of irony is a fire station burning down. This is ironic because fire stations are for firefighters who are the ones who always put out the fire, so if the place burnt down it would be ironic. A second example of irony is a police station getting robbed. This is similar to the fire station example because they are the people you call if someone robs a house or a store. A final example of irony is if a pilot has a fear of heights. A pilot's job is to fly an airplane high in the air, so if he is afraid of heights then why is he flying high in the air?? Remember, irony is a state of affairs or an event that seems deliberately contrary to what one expects and is often amusing as a result.
