Assessment Instructions Students contact their instructor prepared to discuss the important concepts in Unit 4. Instructors check for understanding and mastery of objectives in regards to nonfiction writing, text features, using context for understanding, comparing and contrasting as a rhetorical strategy, using basic research to answer a question and extend knowledge, and acquisition of unit vocabulary.

Best practices include: Using the DBA to instruct in areas not fully mastered Giving adequate opportunity for the student to answer Assessing student review and preparation Student demonstration of connecting new learning to course and unit objectives or theme This conversation is a great opportunity to discuss your research with your instructor. You may want to review your assessments, graphic organizers, or materials that you have in your virtual backpack to prepare for the conversation with your instructor. Think about any questions you still have about the material in this unit; this conversation is a great time to ask your questions.
