The  indicative mood describes statements about real things that have happened or are happening. To indicate means to show or reveal.

Indicative- I ran the marathon last week.

Not indicative- I wish that I had run the marathon last week.

The imperative mood gives orders or requests that someone do something.

Imperative means important or urgent.

Imperative- Wash the dishes before you leave (command)

Not imperative- I washed the dishes before I went out.

tantalus murdered his son and fed him to the gods because he was angry with the gods. the gods punished him by putting him in a pool of water that evaporates when he tries to drink and having fruit hang just out of his reach.
