Misogyny Essay Pre-write
Prompt: Many argue that John Steinbeck was a misogynist based on the way he often portrayed the majority of his female characters. Others say he intentionally painted them to be reflective of the time period, in order to expose the mistreatment of women during the 1930s. Create a 5-6 paragraph essay in which you argue whether Steinbeck was a misogynist or a voice for women’s rights. Be sure to use evidence from both Of Mice and Men, “Letter to Claire Luce”, OR “John Steinbeck was a Sadistic Womanizer, says Wife in Memoir” to support your argument.

*This is just an outline! You still need an introduction, background, context, transitions, and a conclusion when you write the actual essay!*
