PART A: What does the word “travesty” mean as it is used in paragraph 28?
I think Roxanna pointed this out already that not only are teachers turning over in higher numbers, but we’re seeing many kids are in schools where they don’t have lab equipment, where they don’t have access to teachers certified in the areas that they need to teach. They don’t have access to basic learning opportunities. And when you consider the fact that now the Supreme Court has ruled that states no longer need to – are allowed to remove race as a factor in college admissions, so we have allowed the schools to become more voraciously segregated. But now we’re pretending that when they apply to a college that we have a level playing field. This, to me, is the greatest travesty of all.

A
fatal event
B
unreasonable expectation
C
statement of morality
