I think a lesson taught in "Hansel and Gretel" is that adults in your life are not always right, and they do not always have good intentions. Hansel and Gretel are playing in the forest. Their parents just up and left them there. Then they go to a witch whose house is made of candy. She tries to eat them.  I think one of the lessons is be careful who you trust. I do think that society should be teaching this lesson to older children, because children, while they are very young, should trust their parents fully. They are in a stage of development that contains a lot of learning, and distrust can lead to problems. Children of an older age should be taught this lesson because they need to learn that even highly respected people make mistakes, and sometimes people do not have the best intentions. It teaches these children to be cautious in interactions, less gullible, and more capable of thinking for themselves.
